Terms of service

Last updated 23 September 2026

These terms govern your use of Edyth, operated by Commontale, Inc., a Delaware corporation. By creating an account you accept them. The privacy policy, which says what becomes of your data, is part of them.

The service

Edyth reads a manuscript and produces a pre-review: an assessment, comments anchored to passages, reference checks, and suggestions of journals and literature. The work is done by language models. It can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date, and it is not peer review, editorial advice, or a promise about what any journal will decide. You remain responsible for your work and for how you use what Edyth tells you.

Your manuscript stays yours

You keep every right in what you upload. We take only the permission needed to store your manuscript, produce the review you asked for, and show both back to you, and that permission ends when you delete them. We do not use your manuscript for anything else, we do not train models on it, and no person at Edyth reads it. The privacy policy states this in full; it is a term of this agreement.

The review and the other outputs are yours to use as you see fit. They are machine-generated; say so where honesty requires it.

What you may upload

Upload only work you are entitled to submit for review: your own, or work whose authors have agreed. Do not upload another person's unpublished work without their consent, or anything you are bound to keep confidential from third parties, since a review necessarily sends the text to the model providers named in the privacy policy.

Accounts

One person, one account. Keep your credentials safe; you are responsible for activity under your account. The welcome credit and other free credits are granted once per person; claiming them more than once, or sharing an account, may end the account and its credits.

Credits and payment

Edyth is paid for in credits, which are bought in advance. A run is charged at the amount shown in the estimate before you start it, or less; the exact amount appears afterwards in your history. Credits you bought and have not used can be refunded on request within seven days of the purchase. A run that fails, or that was affected by a fault on our side, is refunded. Credits granted free of charge have no cash value, cannot be refunded, and may carry an expiry stated when they are granted.

Refund requests go to [email protected] from the address on the account and are returned to the original payment method.

Acceptable use

You may use Edyth for research and scholarship. You may not:

  • Use automated tools against the web interface, or extract the models' outputs in bulk.
  • Attempt to reach another user's manuscripts or reviews, or to circumvent limits, prices, or the policy guard.
  • Use the service to violate law or the rights of others.

Availability and changes

We may change or discontinue features, and we may suspend accounts that breach these terms. We aim for high availability but do not guarantee it. We will not change what becomes of your manuscript without telling you first.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including any decision you or a journal makes on the strength of a review. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States. Contact: [email protected].
